getting into Drift Racing?

Author: Mike Daniels  //  Category: Drift Racing

I am almost 18, living in saskatchewan, Canada. i have a very good job lined up where i can have plenty of cash to get into drift racing.

problem is where can i get into it, who do i talk to, how much will it cost, and can i stay in the country to do it.

any additional info on this would be greatly helpful and appreciated

First know you have to know what you are doing. Go out and buy the best motoring drift bible with Kenici Tsychia the drift king, showing all the techniques. Also watch any other professional drifting videos. Next buy a cheap rear wheel drive car with a LSD ( like a AE86 or 240sx) and practice, practice, practice, try to find empty parking lots. Once you have confidence then go to small organized events. This is a good start. The series you see on TV are professionals with lots of experience and money, like pro athletes, few get to that level. so just start out and drift for fun.

i don’t think that there is much drifting in canada but there is a professional drift league called Formula Drift in the united states. and that there are some local guys who do it here at go kart tracks so maybe go to your local race course and talk to some people.

OK, if I was you I would get into dirt track racing there is track everywhere plus you can find parts for your car if you wreck it cheaper than drift racing. I race pure stock and to be competitive it cost around 10,000 if you send your car out to get set up and 7,000 if you do it your self. Then if you race two nights a week its about 150 bucks with gas and every thing. Go to the who’s who’ racing web cite and they have tracks in Canada dirt and maybe some asphalt. I raced both dirt and asphalt easier but there is alot more dirt tracks where I’m form. You may also like drag racing it’s cheaper and you don’t have to build a new car every year. If i wanted to drift I would try dirt, If you want go fast try drags, If you just want beat and bang asphalt is the way to go.

Dirt is where it is at!
    in the corners:
Dirt track drivers slide it in further and come out harder.

Drifting is not racing .If you really like racing get in some form of real racing. Where your match against real competition , not just for show. Any race driver could out drive these guys very easily.
