How can I write interesting and varied racing scenes?
Author: Mike Daniels // Category: Drift RacingSo I wanted to make a fanfic for the racing game Drift City. Although this question applies to any time I want to write a racing story.
The problem is, without visual effects, car racing is pretty repetitive. I can only say "drove" or "raced" or "flew off the ramp.." so many times. Any suggestions on writing racing stories?
watch as many races as you can, both live and on tv. You will pick
up a lot of terms from the announcers and the post race interviews.
. You can make up your own vocabulary for the action you are seeing and writing about. Use picturesque terms like for "spin out" you might use "greased sideways". any colorful terms that give a vivid picture
to the reader.
Writing usually requires redoing. Re writing the whole thing and
maybe several times before it satisfies you.
Try many different ways and see what is most popular.
